Handcrafted-Quality Automated Routing for Analog Designs

Today’s advanced analog designs continue to grow in size and complexity. While analog routing has always been a labor-intensive process calling on all the skills of the layout designer, this increasing complexity also necessitates automation to lend both speed and flexibility. Digital-Approach Routers Fall Short

For an analog router to add value and improve productivity, it must not only produce complete, DRC correct routing, but also comprehend and encompass the entire analog routing flow. Most importantly, it must produce results that are at least equivalent in quality to those produced manually by a skilled analog layout designer.

Current automated digital routing solutions do not address enough analog-layout challenges. These tools are difficult and time-consuming to set up and require extensive training, even for experienced analog designers. And the routing results produced by these tools are far inferior to those an experienced designer can produce manually, so many designers prefer to route their designs by hand.


Unity Analog Router: A Unique Analog Solution

The Unity Analog Router provides experienced layout designers with an easy-to-use guided flow that enables them to complete routing very quickly, using a style that is similar to a manual layout approach. Only Unity Analog Router incorporates analog-specific features that address the unique needs of analog routing.

The Unity Analog Router combines the full correctness of a constraint-driven routing approach with a unique algorithm that recognizes devices, positions, and geometries, as well as net topologies, in order to determine the best routing patterns. This unique approach enables Unity Analog Router to deliver a fully routed, electrically correct design, with routing patterns identical to those an analog designer would create by hand – in a fraction of the time required for manual routing.

Designers can also use the Unity Analog Router early in their design process to assess the feasibility of routing a hierarchical design, and to provide more accurate analog block/design-size estimation during floorplanning.
