Pulsic announces Unity 2008.1 after production testing and key input from major customers

Pulsic Limited, the leading software company in custom design automation for memory, today announced the release of UnityTM 2008.1, to address the newly developing custom design automation market and a significant step in the evolution of Pulsic's comprehensive flagship tool for custom-digital, mixed-signal and analog design.

After an extensive phase of testing using production designs with key customers, UnityTM 2008.1 is ready for release; a truly production ready solution for increasingly complex custom designs. Unity 2008.1TM consists of four major components: UniPlanTM a hierarchical floorplanner, UniPlaceTM an advanced custom placement tool, UniRouteTM an automatic shape-based router with patented 'spine and stitch' routing technology and UniEditTM, an interactive editor. All four components are integrated into a single flow, providing unprecedented continuity between each element - therefore maximising design efficiency.

"After a year of planned production testing with our customers, UnityTM 2008.1 continues Pulsic's legacy, built by our expertise in shape based routing, to a full physical custom design platform" said Ken Roberts, CEO of Pulsic. "The first release of UnityTM in 2007, was a significant milestone for Pulsic and we have continued the progress towards the automation of custom design - releasing engineers from the constraints of manual layout and meeting the superior quality standards we demand of our software", continued Mr Roberts.

Mark Waller, VP Research and Development, added: "An increase in productivity is achieved by our unique unified environment. The combined functionality allows designers to be freed from the spaghetti flow's that typify current methodologies - traditionally in a bid to achieve desired design outcomes. These designs also require a lot of inefficient, time consuming manual layout, but with UnityTM 2008.1, they can now either be fully or partially automated without the designer having to transfer between different databases."

In addition to the four core components of UnityTM 2008.1, the benefit of an analysis environment helps designers make DFM and ECO decisions, with minimum disruption, allowing late design changes to be made seamlessly. Add to this a constraint driven system (width, layer, spacing, etc.) adhering to the complex design rules of today's designs, as well as Open Access and CDBA compliance, UnityTM 2008.1 is a very compelling solution for automating custom design.
