Pulsic’s physical design platform, Unity, is used for the design and layout of ICs in the custom design market, the most demanding segment of the EDA software industry.
Pulsic wishes to recruit an energetic and highly motivated Technical Marketing Engineer to enable Pulsic to shape the future product direction, and ensure that Pulsic maintains the highest quality of its physical design software for the needs of its customers. The ideal candidate may be based anywhere in Europe or North America, as you will be expected to divide your time between Pulsic’s UK Headquarters and its customer base in the US and Asia.
The role presents an opportunity for the right person to make a significant impact on Pulsic’s growing list of major semiconductor company customers who use Pulsic’s technology for physical design of their ICs.
Position Summary:
The Technical Marketing Engineer is an important and highly visible role that occupies a position at the center of Pulsic’s organization; this is a key technical role, and is unique in that it forms the focal point for defining product and flow requirements for future Pulsic products.
Working closely with Pulsic customers, prospects and partners, you will be the interface to Pulsic’s R&D, Sales and Marketing teams, to define customer requirements for a custom design flow.
You will also work with the Corporate and Field Applications Teams to manage the field testing function to ensure that Pulsic’s products meet the high standards of quality and reliability to which Pulsic constantly aspires.
You will be currently working for an EDA vendor, and will ideally have experience of custom IC design, and will have worked in a CAD team defining and developing flow methodology in the memory, microprocessor, LCD, LED, FPGA or other custom digital or mixed signal applications.
Desired Experience:
- 5+ Years of Design Experience in the CAD or layout team at a semiconductor or IC design company or at an EDA vendor design services group, developing or managing custom flow methodologies
- At least 2 years of Technical Marketing/Product Engineer experience with an EDA company
- Experience of working on physical design flows, particularly with floorplanning, placement and routing technology in a custom or mixed signal flow
- Working knowledge of Cadence schematic/layout flow, particularly with Virtuoso, DFII/CDBA, is highly desirable
- In depth flow experience of LEF/DEF, Verilog and Open Access would also be an advantage, as would experience of STA, Clock Tree Synthesis or Power Analysis
- Proven experience of working in or managing multi-disciplinary technical teams to deliver new tools and products/services to customers that meet long term needs
- 4 Year Degree in an Engineering related discipline

- Excellent technical skills with the ability to understand customer problems, and translate them into a proposed solution to present to internal R&D teams
- Ability to write Python scripts, familiarity with Tcl/tk, good knowledge of Linux OS variants, and C/C++ programming
- Outstanding project management skills with an ability to multitask several internal and external projects simultaneously
- A superior communicator who is a strong, out-going personality with ability to gain consensus across an organization
- Ability to travel up to 50%
