Field Application Engineer – North America

Pulsic seeks a Field Applications Engineer, with experience in supporting physical design software tools. Experience of floorplanning, placement and routing is desirable for this role. The position is based at our US office in Santa Clara, CA.

The responsibilities include working with our US sales team to support the pre-sales process, performing product demonstrations, supporting prospective customer evaluations, training, and supporting the implementation of our technology in the customer design flow.

You will also be required to work closely with our R & D team in the U.K., to ensure that Pulsic's solutions meet and exceed customers' current and future requirements.

The successful candidate will make a significant contribution to Pulsic's commercial and technical performance targets by demonstrating the full capabilities of Pulsic's technology to new and existing customers during each stage of the sales cycle.

Position in Organisation: Sales Department

Reports to V.P, Operations, however, will work closely with sales, other Applications Engineers, marketing and the R & D team.

Territory - U.S.

  • Primary responsibility for providing pre-sales technical support to sales in the U.S. on all products
  • Other responsibilities may include providing post sales support to U.S. based customers' design centers outside the U.S.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Will serve as the technical focal point between customers, development and sales, through the complete sales cycle, until a win is achieved
  • Provide technical support to sales for proposal writing, trade shows, training, product definition, product demonstrations and other activities as required
  • Work closely with Pulsic Customer Support to provide a positive experience for customers, including: logging bugs, tracking and driving bug fixes and enhancements with R&D
  • Promote customer intimacy by providing timely, unique solutions, and support to meet our customers' needs.
  • Work with customers to understand their design automation needs and develop solutions
  • Assist Marketing and Engineering in new product definition and certain phases of the development.
  • Manage and run benchmarks and provide timely results to customers.
  • Contribute to technical direction, develop applications, applications notes, etc
  • Develop personal rapport with key technologists at current and prospective customers
  • Presales technical presentations, demos, and evaluation, benchmarking which involve complex IC design, ASIC design flow, and circuit applications
  • In addition, the FAE will disseminate technical information to customers through the provision of training and seminars.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years Field Applications Engineering experience and sound working knowledge of EDA back-end tools is highly desirable; experience with front-end tools would be an advantage
  • Experience of place & route software, physical verification or chip-level floorplanning, physical extraction, timing analysis or signal integrity crosstalk effects - the more of these items, the better
  • Advanced VLSI design knowledge including CMOS and Bi-Polar
  • Design experience is preferred
  • Programming experience is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of Verilog or VHDL hardware description languages is
  • Knowledge and understanding of simulation, synthesis and verification flows
  • Physical Design Software experience in one or more other vendors' EDA tools including Cadence, Mentor Graphics or Synopsys
  • Experience with workstations and various operating systems including Linux, Unix and Windows
